At The Locoshed we do offer a fully guaranteed DCC fitting service with both Plug and play models attended to and the more difficult hard wire jobs in 4mm OO Scale.

Please contact us for a qoute as some models ar far more difficult, risky and time consuming than others. 

 

We will also try N gauge and O gauge but you need to talk to us first before we can commit on a price as all models are different and some require a lot more work than others ,and in some cases special chips, brush sleeve isolation and larger speakers which is all an addition cost.  

 

As a general example we charge £10.00 for a plug and play model providing you buy the chip from us we will guarantee the work for 6 months.

 

For a hard wire job done by our Mr T , again some can be pretty easy and some a real nightmare.

we normally say for a Hard wire job £20 but discount will be given for multiple jobs.

 

Sound fitting is generally £25 per model again with a few exceptions.

 

Please NOTE we do not do them while you wait, if you buy a model and want it fitting we will try and do it but if the shop is busy , priority is to the other customers and for security issues, you may have to leave the model with us which are done at the first chance.

 

Hard wire jobs are always taken away by Mr T and normally returned for collection within 7 days.  

 

Any hard wire jobs will be fully tested on analogue before we even attempt to convert them as the older 3 pole motors and gear boxes are prone to poor running issues with minimal pick-ups which will cause problems when DCC fitted, they need a greater start voltage and usually draw 0.8amp before they even move , if the motor is defective it will blow the chip unless we fit a 2 amp version at £25 per chip plus fitting.

It is therefore imperative that you the customer service you own models and oil them before you bring them and make sure they are in top working condition or we will have to charge for our time on top of a fitting fee.

 

If its DCC layout wiring help you need Mr T can give you free advice or arrange a home visit as far as i know he charges £10 per hour plus fuel for visits.
